Suitable for potters wanting to begin mixing glazes for themsleves, this entry level course will teach you everything you need to know to make small batches of dipping glazes.
You will need to bring your own face mask to match or improve the spec of the JSP force 8 mask with respirator with press-to-check filters P3 99.98% filter efficiency.
The rest of the equipment will be provided by us and can be bought as a kit from us to continue your glaze journey at home.
- Week 1. Introduction to glaze chemistry, where to find and how to read glaze recipes, understand test tile coding and kiln schedule relevance and mixing your first glaze.
- Week 2. Review test tiles from week 1, discuss common issues and trouble shooting. Learn how to make a personalised line blend.
- Week 3. Review test tiles, an introduction to dip glazes made from four of week 2's recipes, application having fun with experimental techniques.
We provide all materials, test tiles, 2 x slabs and firing. You are invited to bring one open form item of your own measuring no more than 10cmh x 10cm dia.
For members, once you've taken this course your ongoing glaze making can be supported through the tutored glaze sessions.
